Bravery for Your Root Canal

About Me

Bravery for Your Root Canal

No one enjoys serious dental procedures like a root canal, but many people outright ignore their dental health because they're too anxious or afraid to go through treatment. I did the very same thing myself when my dentist told me one of my molars could only be saved by a quick root canal. I ended up losing the tooth because I put off the treatment too many times out of fear. Now I work hard to encourage other dental patients to find ways to overcome their anxiety so they can get the care they need and save their teeth before it's too late.

Three Reasons Why You Won'T Get Stained Teeth While Wearing Invisible Braces

Traditional braces are great for straightening teeth, but they do have their downsides. For example, many people have their braces taken off at the end of treatment only to realize that their teeth are stained, even when they've tried to take good care of their oral hygiene. Thankfully, this isn't an issue when you choose invisible braces instead. Here's why.

No Brackets

One of the biggest culprits behind people having stains on their teeth after having their braces taken off is the brackets that hold them on. These metal pieces are attached to the front of the teeth with dental cement, but they act like a foothold for food debris and bacteria that thrive off of it.

When you eat with traditional braces, the food gets mashed up and can collect around these metal brackets. Over time, unless you brush after every single meal and use an interdental brush to clear away debris from the brackets, enamel loss and damage can occur around the brackets. This is actually what's causing the staining, which is even worse, as it means that your teeth have been damaged, not just discolored.

Oral Hygiene Ease

Another reason why you're less likely to get stains on your teeth is that it's so easy to clean your teeth with invisible braces. All you have to do is take them off and then floss and brush like you ordinarily would. In comparison, cleaning your teeth with traditional braces is hard and often requires special equipment to get the job done, like interdental brushes or water flossers.

Whitening

Lastly, some discoloration tends to happen to teeth naturally, whether or not you have braces. When you have traditional braces, though, you just have to put up with it. But with invisible braces, you can have your teeth whitened whenever you want.

Since invisible braces can just be taken off, there's nothing getting in the way of you have your teeth whitened professionally or even at home. So you can keep up your normal day-to-day maintenance of your teeth instead of letting them go without whitening for potentially years, which will prevent that dingy discoloration from developing over time.

Invisible braces are better than traditional braces in many ways, and these reasons are just some of them. If you're interested in having your teeth straightened but don't want to go through the hassle that traditional braces create, consider invisible aligners instead.
