Bravery for Your Root Canal

About Me

Bravery for Your Root Canal

No one enjoys serious dental procedures like a root canal, but many people outright ignore their dental health because they're too anxious or afraid to go through treatment. I did the very same thing myself when my dentist told me one of my molars could only be saved by a quick root canal. I ended up losing the tooth because I put off the treatment too many times out of fear. Now I work hard to encourage other dental patients to find ways to overcome their anxiety so they can get the care they need and save their teeth before it's too late.

Traveling Outside the Country With Dentures? Three Ways to be Prepared

One thing you may enjoy doing once you reach retirement is traveling, especially outside the country. If you plan to do your traveling with dentures, there are some things you should keep in mind to make your vacation less stressful.

Bring Doubles of Everything

There is always a chance that your luggage could be lost once you get to your destination. If the items you need to care for your dentures are in your packed bag, it can cause problems trying to acquire the things you need in an unfamiliar place.

Make sure to bring two cleansing cups, sets of cleansing tabs, toothbrushes, and denture paste containers for your packed bag and carry on. This will ensure that if something does happen to either bag, you have the stuff you need to keep using your dentures.

You should check with your denturist about getting spare dentures as your potential back-up. There is always a possibility that your dentures can break, get stolen, or lost during your travels. Stranger things have happened to people when traveling, and the extra set will prepare you for the worst.

Research Denture Care Before You Leave

If you do not get an extra set of dentures to take with you, it is a good idea to do research for places you can go when you have problems. Ask your denturist about how to locate denture clinics that are accredited and licensed in the country you're visiting. You may need to make an emergency visit if your dentures break unexpectedly.

You'll also realize that there are different denture care products in foreign countries, and you won't be able to easily identify the product you need. It will help to find out which brands have similar ingredients for things like a denture adhesive, since some brands work better than others.

Save Contact Information for Hotels

When traveling to multiple destinations in a single trip, make sure to save the contact information for any hotels that you stay at. If you do forget your dentures at a hotel, you will be able to easily get in touch with them. You can then arrange shipping arrangements to get your dentures sent back to your home in the U.S.

If you have never traveled with dentures before, following these tips will ensure that you have smooth travels since you'll be prepared for the worst. For more tips on denture care while on vacation, speak to a local dentist, such as Elk Plaza Dental.
