Bravery for Your Root Canal

About Me

Bravery for Your Root Canal

No one enjoys serious dental procedures like a root canal, but many people outright ignore their dental health because they're too anxious or afraid to go through treatment. I did the very same thing myself when my dentist told me one of my molars could only be saved by a quick root canal. I ended up losing the tooth because I put off the treatment too many times out of fear. Now I work hard to encourage other dental patients to find ways to overcome their anxiety so they can get the care they need and save their teeth before it's too late.

How To Reduce The Time Spent Wearing Braces

When you get your braces installed, the first thought that probably comes to mind is the day you will be free of them again. It's normal to have a love-hate relationship with your braces. They are straightening your teeth, but they can take some getting used to. The good news is there are some things you can do in order to reduce the time that you will have to wear your braces. Continue reading to learn more about how you can see results quicker.

Eat Safe Foods

Follow the rules of your orthodontist. Fight off the urge to snack on your favorite nuts or hard candy because the last thing you want to deal with is a broken bracket or wire. As long as you avoid the foods that could do damage to your braces, you will be fine. Making good choices when it comes to what foods and snacks you put into your mouth will reduce the chances of damaging your braces, which could reduce the time you have to wear them.

Wear Your Braces Properly All the Time

If you have rubber bands or any other removable parts for your braces, be sure that you are wearing them as directed. If you don't follow your orthodontist's guidelines for proper wear, you will only have to wear your braces longer because you aren't letting them do their job.

In addition, be sure that you come to all of your appointments so that your treatment stays on track. Sometimes adjustments are necessary to make sure the braces are doing their job.

Take Care of Your Braces

Remember that your braces can be broken. They need to be treated with care. If you are doing any physical activity, such as playing a sport, be sure that you wear a mouth guard to keep your teeth and braces protected.

Carefully, but thoroughly clean your braces so that you don't get food stuck in them that will cause your problems. Waterpiks are an easy way to floss in between your braces and your teeth to help you make sure everything is clean.

Try not to focus on how long it will take before you can have your braces removed. Instead focus on how much better your smile will look when the braces have done their job. Braces are just a temporary treatment, but they can improve your smile for the long term. Take care of them and they will be removed soon enough.
